UNB Business Student Receives J.D. Irving, Limited Accounting Incentive Award
August 10, 2012 (Saint John, NB): Melissa Leighton from St. Stephen, New Brunswick is the recipient of the J.D. Irving, Limited Accounting Incentive Award. The third-year business student from UNB Saint John Campus received a $3,000 prize payable toward her education and a coop summer accounting intern position with JDI Financial Services in Saint John.
“My family is very proud of me for achieving this award from JDI,” said Leighton. “It makes me feel that I’m being recognized for my hard work at university. I’m not only receiving financial support but I’m also working with experienced JDI mentors and earning valuable accounting work experience.”
The Accounting Incentive Award is awarded annually to third-year business students with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 and with plans to pursue an accounting designation.

Irving, Limited. “The summer work term will give Melissa a chance to get to know us. She’s a great example of our ongoing commitment to support and build the skills of Maritime university students.”

Leighton is currently working toward a Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting at the University of Brunswick. She plans to pursue a Chartered Accountant designation.
