The importance of New Brunswick’s  forest sector was recently highlighted at the Atlantic Economic Council’s Business Outlook Conference – and the numbers tell the story.

Did you know the forest product industry supports 26,000 jobs across the province? That’s 1 in every 17 New Brunswickers.

It’s also a major contributor to public services. In 2024, the forest sector generated $656 million in provincial and municipal taxes — helping fund roads, schools, and healthcare across NB.

With 1,285 firms operating in the sector, over 70% of NB communities have at least one forest-related business. That keeps good-paying jobs here at home and keeps NB strong.

What makes it even better? It’s built on a renewable resource — forests are replanted, regrown, and managed sustainably for future generations.

Forests that work for NB — for jobs, for the future, and for the communities we call home.
