Current Research Projects
J.D. Irving, Limited is committed to continuous improvement based on good science. We rely on developing new tools and technology to improve our operations. Each year our company spends almost $2 million dollars on research and development. These expenditures in learning and gaining new knowledge are an important aspect of our improvement program. In addition to having full-time staff dedicated to research and development, we actively partner with organizations and world-class scientists doing innovative research to better our environmental understanding.

We established several sites dedicated to improving public awareness about conservation while providing outstanding recreational opportunities. These include The Irving Nature Park in Saint John and La Dune de Bouctouche in eastern New Brunswick, which are both award winning tourism sites that have received international awards and recognition.
In addition, our efforts have been recognized by:
- The World Wildlife Fund
- The Nature Conservancy
- The Canadian Council of Ministers for the Environment
- The Gulf of Maine Council
- The Atlantic Salmon Federation
- Canadian Council of Ecological Areas.
JDI has received several environment related awards and we are honoured to be recognized for our efforts in making our planet a better place to live.
