Special Achievement in GIS Award

For more than 20 years, geospatial (GIS) technologies have helped JDI ensure more detailed forest mapping for sustainable resource management. JDI was the first forest products company in North America to use the innovative ESRI technology back in 1983. Managing forests in today's ever-changing world is an increasingly complex and demanding challenge involving dynamic environmental, resource considerations, and business decisions, and GIS technology is a key tool in helping us succeed.

“GIS technology is critical to 21st century management of healthy forests and ecosystems. We have a big responsibility to care for both Crown and freehold land.  GIS systems and databases help us meet this commitment - ensuring we are responsibly looking after 100’s of variables on the 6 million acres that JDI owns or manages – not only for today but 80 years into the future.”

Blake Brunsdon, Chief Forester for J.D. Irving, Limited
