Irving Nature Park (INP) will be opening its gates to vehicles on May 1, 2013 for its 21st season.   Some of the structures within will be getting a bit of a facelift.

Halifax Shipyard recently hosted a tour for 75 women taking the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) program called "Women Unlimited".  The group visited the shipyard to learn more about employment opportunities in the shipbuilding industry.


Arbour Day Unearths Environmental Awareness in Grade One Students

Students from St. George Elementary School are digging into their lessons today – quite literally - as they plant trees to celebrate Arbour Day. Two classes of grade one students helped plant three hardwood trees on the school grounds at 118 Brunswick Street. Their fellow grade one students across the Anglophone South School District also spent some class time this week learning about the value of planting trees.

Shipyard Workers Donate Children´s Books

During the one-week book drive which was organized by David Ladouceur of CAW Local 1, employees were asked to bring in gently used children's books.  The donated books were collected at drop-off points in the shipyard's reception area and lunch rooms.  Over 400 books were collected.
