Irving Shipbuilding and the Department of National Defence (DND) honoured the legacy of a decorated veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) as steel cutting for the second Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS), the future HMCS Margaret Brooke, commenced.


Teachers Become Students on “Forests Worth Knowing” Tour

Before heading back to their classrooms, over 30 Atlantic Canadian educators became students for a three-day tour of forestry operations. It’s a part of the Forests Worth Knowing Teachers Tour, a program organized by the Canadian Woodlands Forum in partnership with J.D. Irving, Limited for the past fifteen years. Thirty-one educators from PEI, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick spent three days touring JDI forestry operations in central New Brunswick.

Since 2013, the Pulp and Paper Division at JDI has award $35 000 to 35 students who are the children of our valued employees. Last Thursday night, this year’s round of talented students received a $1000 scholarship for their books and education.

A scholarship from J.D. Irving, Limited helped Chris Clark of the Kingston Peninsula, New Brunswick, pay for tuition while studying power engineering at the New Brunswick Community College. After two work terms with JDI, Chris started his career at Irving Pulp and Paper.
