Don Harshman, Cavendish’s supervisor of facilities and process water treatment, credits the team of 213 employees with the award and the recycling initiative’s success.  “They do it all; they make the program work,” he said.  Cavendish Farms recycles all the corrugated cardboard used on the production floor, as well as all paper, plastic, and pallet strapping. Office paper, newsprint, magazines and catalogs are also part of the plant’s recycling program. Cavendish Farms has invested in the effort by purchasing a bailer and a chipper to pre-process and reduce the size of recycled materials. The company has also placed recycling containers for paper, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans throughout the plant.
