Irving Eco-Centre: An eco-world of fun

Learn about the great sand dune, local ecosystems and habitat through Irving Eco-Centre's fun, interactive activities and events.  Admission to all programs and parks is free.

Meeting Places for all interpretive events will be on the boardwalk near the Information Centre.  General public tours are offered in English and French.

Dogs are not permitted on the dune or boardwalk; however, we are pleased to offer a free kennel service to visitors who are travelling with their pets.

From May 21st to June 25th, the Information and Interpretation Centres will open daily  from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Monday to Friday

Educational guided tours to school groups and special groups (b)

Electric vehicle tour on the boardwalk” (for the physically challenged): Enjoy a leisurely ride on our electric vehicle while learning about the dune’s ecology, and migratory endangered birds….when available (b)

Saturdays

1:30 PM to 3:00 PM - “Roving Interpreter” An interpreter will be roving all over the site answer your questions and to point out interesting facts about the Dune ecosystem   (b)

Sundays

1:30 PM to 3:00 PM - “Nature Exhibit Program” outside near the Information Centre (different theme every day)  (b)

Schedule of activities for the public for June 24 to September 3 2017

From June 27th to September 3rd , the Information Centre  and the Interpretation Centre will open  daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Sundays

1:00 PM  -“Mini-walk”- Spend half an hour with an interpreter on the boardwalk to learn more about the dune and its ecosystem (b)

1:30 PM to 3:00 PM - “Nature Exhibit Program”– outside near the Information Centre (different theme every day)  (b)

Mondays

Wednesdays

8:30am to 9:30am - "Yoga at the Beach" What a better way to start your day by doing an hour of yoga on the beach. Bring a mat or a towel and join Brigitte, a local Yoga instructor every Wednesdays of July and August

9:30 AM to 11:30 AM - “Electric vehicle tour on the boardwalk” 

9:30 AM to 11:30 AM - “Découvrons/Discover la Dune” for children between 7 and 11 years. Spend the morning in nature discovery mode. Parents must register their child each week for this activity: first come first serve (b)

Friday, July 7th

This family activity will help young and old discover how people in the Bouctouche area fish for bar clams, soft shell clams and razor clams. How they are harvested, cooked and preserved by locals including ways to served them. You will also be able to taste them and get the recipes.

“Walk the Full Dune” 
The Full Dune Walk is a community outdoor challenge that consists of hiking the full 12km length of the Bouctouche sand spit. Boat pick-up from tip of the dune is provided. Pre-registration is required as of September 1st
