2020 Jeux de l'Acadie Comes to Saint John - Our Sawmills Division is A Cheerleader!
J.D. Irving, Limited's Sawmill Division is happy to announce their support of the 2020 Jeux de l'Acadie with a $30,000 donation. This year's event will be hosted by Saint John and Quispamsis.
"Sports have always played a key part in my life and as co-president of the funding campaign I’m thrilled to be part of the team that will put together this major event," said Christian Gilbert. Christian Gilbert is a Sales Manager with the JDI Sawmill Division, is one of the co-chairs of the 2020 fundraising campaign and presented the campaign with the kickoff donation from JDI.
"J.D. Irving, Limited was the first major sponsor to sign on with a contribution of $30,000. So that's a great start for the finance campaign. And it's great to see companies want to support the Acadian Games, that will bring 1,200 athletes in 2020," said Michel Côté, co-chair of the fundraising campaign.
"I knew our company had always supported local communities. Its important to us because it is where our families live. What I’m most proud of is when we needed help for funding for this event, the company and did not hesitate to show their support," said Gibert. "Saint John will host an amazing celebration of sport, culture this summer!"
The event will take place from June 24-28, 2020. More than 1200 participants will be competing in 12 events sporting and cultural events. The Acadian games are the largest social and sport gathering in the Maritimes.
