CFM celebrates one year without a lost-time incident

CFM has attained a safety milestone of one full year without a lost-time incident, achieved while working more than 408,000 labour hours safely across Atlantic Canada. This achievement reflects the dedication of every employee to make safety their top priority.

The milestone was also reached during CFM's busiest year to date.

"This is a major accomplishment and a testament to everyone’s hard work. Our teams were working across Atlantic Canada in tough environments and managing through safety challenges. Despite the variety of work we do, we’ve achieved one full year without a lost-time injury," said Ewan Scott, General Manager of CFM.

"Success matters, but nothing is more important than sending our people home safe. Thank you to the CFM team for keeping safety top of mind, and here’s to a safe, successful 2026.”

To reach this milestone, the team focused on proactive safety measures every day. Employees contributed by spotting risks early and preventing incidents. This strong commitment to safety resulted in the CFM team proactively making more hazard identifications and conducting more work site observations than ever before. Daily safety discussions, hazard assessments, weekly reporting, proper PPE and looking out for one another have all contributed to this success. Most importantly, every employee has embraced a strong safety mindset.

In February 2025, CFM achieved Certificate of Recognition (COR) certification — a nationally recognized certification that validates safety procedures and processes through external audits.

“I am proud of the progress our team has made. When I joined CFM, our safety performance was strong and today it is exceptional," says Brad Steeves, CFM's Director of Operations.

"Our safety professionals across CFM, the Construction & Equipment Division and J.D. Irving, Limited are among the best in the industry. We share knowledge, collaborate effectively and support one another. Our commitment to safety can be summed up in one guiding principle: Everyone goes home safe, every day."

Thank you to every member of the CFM team for making safety the priority and congratulations on achieving this milestone.
