“We chose Saint John, New Brunswick because of J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI),” says Yaroslav Kornev. “It was the perfect place to start my career in Canada.”

Originally from Ukraine, Yaroslav is an experienced engineer with over 15 years of experience working in the heavy engineering, packaging, ventilation, fast-moving consumer goods and manufacturing industries. On March 1^st, 2022, Yaroslav, his wife and their two kids moved from Ukraine to Saint John, where he joined the team at Irving Paper as a Reliability Maintenance Engineer.

“I love that JDI prioritizes the safety of their employees,” says Yaroslav. “JDI truly cares about their people, the environment and the community.”

Now living in Saint John for approximately three months, he says he loves the people. “Everyone is so nice and helpful. And they are always smiling!”

On the weekends, Yaroslav and his family enjoy playing at Rockwood Park and exploring the many towns around New Brunswick.
