Careers in Motion Student Spotlight: Addison McClune
Addison McClune is gaining hands-on experience in transportation and logistics through her summer work term with RST Transportation, building off the skills she's already developed as an accomplished student athlete.
The business student at the University of New Brunswick Saint John is entering her third year with a major in accounting. Her experience balancing academics and athletics has strengthened her focus, discipline and ability to perform under pressure.
A talented golfer and badminton player, Addison has been recognized nationally as a 2025 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Academic All-Canadian and a CCAA National Scholar, reflecting her commitment to excellence both in the classroom and as a varsity student-athlete.
Now in her first work term with RST Transportation, Addison is working as an Operations Assistant, where she is already making an impact. One of her key projects involves supporting the implementation of bulk diesel exhaust fluid stations across Atlantic Canada, Ontario and Quebec. The initiative aims to streamline supply, reduce reliance on external vendors and improve efficiency for drivers. Through this work, she is analyzing data, supporting rollout efforts and contributing to a project with measurable operational value.
“The opportunity to take ownership of a project with real impact has been a highlight of my term so far,” she said. “I’ve learned so much by working with a supportive and knowledgeable team.”
Outside of work, Addison remains active in her campus community. She serves as the social media coordinator for the Women in Business Society and the marketing director for the UNBSJ Finance and Investment Society.
Through her work term experience, Addison is part of the J.D. Irving, Limited Transportation & Logistics Division's Careers in Motion program, which provides meaningful exposure across the business and fosters a supportive environment where students can thrive.
Addison said she has gained a new appreciation for the transportation industry through the experience. She highlights its fast-paced nature, where “no two days are the same,” and the constant need for problem solving.
Her advice to other students is simple: take initiative and stay curious.
“Step outside your comfort zone, ask questions and take advantage of every opportunity to learn and grow.”
