At J.D. Irving, Limited we're proud to have individuals on our team from across the world. Oumaima El Ouahdi, originally from El Jadida, Morocco has been working at our sawmill in St. Leonard, NB since 2020. As with all of our new hires, she began as a production worker and has moved up to an operator. 

"The customs that I brought with me are our Moroccan traditions, among the activities that I participated in with my community and my Canadian friends is Moroccan cuisine," says Oumaima.  

Last month her father father, Abdelhak joined her in New Brunswick and is also working at the sawmill in St. Leonard.

Our Northern New Brunswick sawmills have also recently welcomed new Canadians from Cameroon and Côte d'Ivoire. In the last few months alone we've welcomed 11 between the three countries.
