Irving Forest Products celebrates 25 years in Dixfield, Maine

Irving Forest Products is celebrating 25 years of operation for the sawmill in Dixfield, Maine. This world-class facility is the largest and most modern eastern white pine sawmill in the world and we're proud to invest in economic growth and opportunity through this site.

The mill was purchased in December 1998 from the Stowell family, owners of Highland Lumber. At that time, it employed 150 people and produced 50 million board feet of lumber. With over 40 million dollars in investments since the purchase, those numbers have risen to 250 employees and, in 2024, the mill will produce 100 million board feet!

Some of the major projects since 1998 have been building specialty, value-added and planer mills. Irving Forest Products prioritizes optimization and efficiency and we have invested in new edgers, back pressure turbines, grade scanners, and most recently this year a new debarker and stacker. These investments mean improved quality, increased yield from fewer logs and maximized value from the mill to the customer's door.
