J.D. Irving, Limited celebrates co-op student success

This National Co-op Month, J.D. Irving is celebrating the contributions of the more than 1,100 co-operative education students it hires annually.

The hands-on work experience and networking opportunities offered through these work terms challenge students to grow in their chosen career paths, while also allowing students to play a role in the company’s success.

“Many of our students end up returning for multiple co-ops because of the environment, culture and opportunities we provide,” said Student Recruitment Lead Jill Hickson. “It is so rewarding to be one piece of their career puzzle.”

For co-op student Owen Chisholm, returning to J.D. Irving for another work term was an easy decision to make.

“They have given me challenging and diverse work experiences, support from peers and supervisors alike and real-world responsibilities that gave me the confidence to thrive,” Chisholm said.

“The growth I have seen in myself over the last two years, both personally and professionally, continues to make me proud of what I’ve achieved and excited for what’s to come.”

J.D. Irving, Limited recognizes the importance of co-operative education in shaping future leaders and fostering innovation. Through mentorship, hands-on projects and collaborative environments, students gain the skills and confidence they need to excel in their careers.
