Kent Homes Boost Housing Supply in New Brunswick via Modular Construction
In response to the growing need for affordable housing in New Brunswick, Kent Homes has partnered with local non-profits and housing authorities to supply modular homes. These homes provide immediate, high-quality housing for people and families in communities across the province. Kent Homes has already delivered multiple units, with more planned for 2025.
Throughout 2024, Kent Homes has built and delivered two duplexes and one 10-unit apartment complex to communities across New Brunswick, including Shediac, Miramichi, and Edmundston. These new modular homes add 14 new affordable homes for individuals and families in need.
Chris Madia, Kent Homes’ General Manager, stated, “We are committed to playing an active role in helping solve the affordable housing crisis. Kent Homes operates year-round and modular construction allows people to move into their homes sooner without sacrificing quality. These recent deliveries across New Brunswick prove this is especially true when it comes to multi-unit housing."
Kent Homes' modular units offer energy-efficient and customizable living spaces that can be manufactured 30 to 50 percent faster than traditional construction methods. This speed and flexibility are helping to meet the urgent need for affordable housing throughout Atlantic Canada.
Kent Homes has been steadfast in its commitment to making safe and affordable housing accessible for vulnerable populations. Throughout 2022 and 2023, working with key partners, such as the Canadian Mental Health Association of Prince Edward Island and the Government of Nova Scotia, Kent Homes supplied modular apartment complexes for at-risk individuals in Charlottetown and Alberton, PE, and modular homes to the Government of Nova Scotia to help house victims of the wildfires in Shelburne County and the Halifax Regional Municipality.
With more projects on the horizon, Kent Homes is ready to continue building homes for people who need them most.
The Modular Advantage
Kent Homes manufactures its units in an assembly line with the help of a team that includes skilled tradespeople, engineers, designers, sales and marketing staff, administrators, and more. Modules are constructed in an indoor, climate-controlled facility using environmentally friendly products and building practices that minimize waste. This allows Kent Homes to complete projects on time and within budget.
