Meet the Richard brothers – Celebrating 150 years of combined service at Cavendish Agri Services
At Cavendish Agri Services, three brothers — Mike, Maurice, and Terrence Richard, all plant workers at the Travellers Rest branch in Prince Edward Island, recently celebrated an incredible milestone: 150 years of combined service. Their dedication, teamwork and family bond have made a lasting impact on the company and the people around them.
Mike Richard – 55 Years of Service
Mike began his journey with Cavendish Agri at 17 years old. He continues to bring energy and experience to his role. “My wife keeps telling me to retire,” he laughs, “but I enjoy working here.” His days often start in the warehouse, preparing for the tasks that lie ahead.
Mike was the first of the brothers to join the company, followed by Maurice, then Terrence. “All I had to do was ask them to come work with me, and they did,” he shares. “Whenever our schedules overlap, we do unstoppable work together.” Over the years, Mike has witnessed significant changes — from new staff and buildings to improved efficiency and technology. “During our busy season, we’d work long days, bagging fertilizer and planting. Now, with new technology, we don’t have to put in as much time as we used to.”
Mike says the positive work environment has made every day rewarding. “There’s a lot of respect for those who’ve been here a long time. Loyalty is valued.”
Maurice Richard – 50 Years of Service
For Maurice, working at Cavendish Agri Services has always been about more than just the job — it’s about the people. After 50 years, he still finds comfort in the daily routine and the familiar faces around him.
Maurice values the strong bonds he’s built over the years, not only with his brothers, but with the entire team. The supportive and respectful environment that has kept him coming back year after year.
Terrence Richard – 45 Years of Service
With a career spanning 45 years, Terrence values the variety and flexibility his role offers. “It’s doing a bit of everything, not just one job all the time,” he says. That mix keeps things interesting and allows him to stay engaged day after day.
Working alongside his brothers adds a meaningful layer to his experience. “I literally get to work with family,” he shares. “It makes me feel good coming to work every morning, knowing what I’ll be doing and who I’ll be working with.”
Terrence also appreciates the strong sense of community at Cavendish Agri. “There’s a real family atmosphere here,” he says. “People are always willing to lend a hand — it’s just how things are done.”
A Legacy of Dedication
Together, the Richard brothers have built a legacy of dedication, loyalty and camaraderie. Their story is a testament to the values that define Cavendish Agri Services — family, teamwork and a commitment to excellence.
