Michael Falt of Midland is awarded the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal

Giving back to organizations that have a positive impact in the communities where we live and work is important to J.D. Irving. Michael Falt, a Pick Up and Delivery Driver for Midland in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, is an example of an individual who gives his time and resources to his community. Falt was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal in a ceremony held on October 1.

These special medals are designed to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th year on the throne and are presented to individuals who have contributed to the community over the years. A committee of volunteers and past commemorative winners determine the final list of those recognized for significant contribution through volunteering.

Falt has been a volunteer fireman for 21 years. He spent 16 years at the Lunenburg and District Fire Department, where he rose to the rank of Engineer. He then moved to the Mahone and District Fire Department, where he rose to the rank of Captain, and he is now at the Blockhouse and District Fire Department as an Engineer.

Falt’s son sparked his interest in volunteering for Scouts Canada. As a Scout dad, Falt spent 10 years volunteering, beginning with leading the Beaver Scouts then progressing to Cub Scouts and Scouts.

“Volunteering has been with me since I was little,” said Michael Falt. “Volunteering is very important to me, you learn new skills, make social connections, and it helps you shape your community.”

In 2018, Falt started driving with Midland in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Congratulations Michael on this impressive award!
