Over 560,000 visitors to J.D. Irving, Limited nature parks this year
More than 560,000 visitors discovered the gift of nature this season at the Irving Nature Park and La Dune de Bouctouche.
As a sustainable forestry company, J.D. Irving, Limited recognizes the importance of preserving natural ecosystems and provides access for the public to appreciate the beauty of the New Brunswick environment. The company’s two nature parks, the Irving Nature Park and La Dune de Bouctouche, offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation and education.
Located in Saint John, New Brunswick, the Irving Nature Park is a 600-acre park which hosts special events such as Astronomy by the Bay star-watching, guided tours and annual races. Open since 1992, its environmental significance is noteworthy for several reasons. At the mouth of the Bay of Fundy, it has one of the province’s richest marine ecosystems, and Saints Rest Marsh was recently designated as a Treasured Wetland of New Brunswick.
Now in its 27th year, La Dune de Bouctouche, in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, is home to one of the few remaining great sand dunes on the northeastern coastline of North America. It also provides habitat to a diverse range of marine and land species as well as critical breeding and feeding grounds for many migratory birds.
Both parks hold a special place in the hearts of locals, and JDI is proud to continue the tradition of friends and family connecting at the parks through their love of nature.
