PPD Students Yellow Belt - 2019
From left to right: Zachary Woodill, Brian Stackhouse, Kendra Willcott-Benoit, and William Luton. Brian is the Director of Continuous Improvement and presented Zachary, Kendra, and William with their Yellow Belt certificates.

Helping students grow their education and providing them with a hands-on learning experiences is our commitment to growing the potential of the next generation. One area of training that we provide to our students is the Six Sigma certification program. Six Sigma is an internationally recognized set of management techniques and tools that improve business processes and reduce the probability that an error will occur.

In Six Sigma, there are various levels of certifications that can be achieved. Each certification level entails different responsibilities and tasks that are signified by colours. This winter, three of our Pulp and Paper Division students attended and completed their Yellow Belt which focused on areas such as: root cause analysis, lean thinking and identification and visualization of key metrics. With this valuable training, each student is able to bring back with them tools that will contribute to their lifelong learning.

Congratulations and thanks to all of our co-op students for your contributions this term!
