The award is expected to generate approximately 35 jobs for the duration of the project, made up of carpenters, labourers, boilermakers and construction supervisors. This contract is also expected to benefit several local subcontractors who will be supporting the contract.
The stainless steel tank, which will be used to store wood pulp, will be 45 feet in diameter, 100 feet tall and constructed of large modules which will be assembled on site combined with traditional tank construction methods. The modules are designed to reduce site construction time and accelerate the work to be executed in the field. The Pulp Discharge Tank Project is a component of the recently announced Continuous Cooking Plant Project.
“We’re proud of our 30+ year service history with Irving Pulp & Paper and look forward to a successful outcome for the project,” said Mike Hidas, General Manager of Thermal Power.
Shop fabrication commenced in June with field construction commencing in September and completing in December 2014.
