(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB Varsity Reds are proud to announce that Cavendish Farms will return as the title sponsor for the Coupe U Cup tournaments in 2017 and 2018. Cavendish Farms was also the title sponsor when the University of New Brunswick hosted the tournament in 2011 and 2012.

“Cavendish Farms is excited to once again partner with the UNB Varsity Reds as they host this national men’s university championship,” said Robert K. Irving, President of Cavendish Farms. “The tournament is well run and the hockey is high caliber. It’s an event that’s great for the community and hockey fans alike.”

“Like the UNB Varsity Reds, Cavendish Farms strives to serve its customers as best it can and we’re proud to be partnering with them again,” said UNB’s Director of Athletics John Richard. “Cavendish Farms is an Atlantic Canadian favourite, so it makes sense for us to work with them. They were great supporters in the past, and we’re very fortunate they’re sponsoring us again.”

The 2017 Cavendish Farms Coupe U Cup will take place March 16th through 19th, at UNB’s Aitken Centre. It will feature eight of Canada’s top university men’s hockey teams, including the defending champion Varsity Reds.

Graham Brown, the Chief Executive Officer of U Sports, welcomed Cavendish Farms.

“We are thrilled to see partners such as Cavendish Farms supporting one of our national championships,” he said. “This illustrates the potential for local and national brands in joining U Sports, and goes along the lines of the new development strategy we’ve deployed, which included the rebranding of our organization. I look forward to similar announcements in the following months,” said Brown.

Tickets for the 2017 Cavendish Farms Coupe U Cup are on sale through the Aitken Centre box office.

Tournament passes are currently available and cost $175 for adults, $150 for seniors, and $75 for children and students. Single game tickets will be available at a later time.
