On August 1st, people across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia will celebrate their heritage and the people that make these provinces great places to live and work.

In honour of this holiday, we at J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI) are celebrating the successes and contributions of our New Brunswick and Nova Scotian employees.

1. Ayisha Corey

Ayisha escaped the Fort McMurray wild fires with her family and has since become the newest member of the RST Industries-Sunbury Transport team. See why Ayisha is proud to call New Brunswick home.

2. Syrian Newcomers

Quite literally planting roots in their new home of New Brunswick, this group from Syria is grateful for a peaceful new life. Their strong work ethic and enthusiasm promises a successful future. Watch the video on their new life in Canada.

3. Ann Mellema

Born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Ann Mellema is the Director of Program Governance at the Halifax Shipyard. An active volunteer within her profession, Ann recently was awarded with the Women’s Executive Network 2015 Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100 Award. 4. Kim Powell

If you are or were a student at Prince Charles School in Saint John New Brunswick, then you probably know Kim Powell. A Production Planner for Irving Paper in Saint John, New Brunswick, Kim is a true community leader – giving back through the PALS program, reading to students of Prince Charles School every Friday for the past 14 years. 5. Jono McLoughlin

As an Accuracy Control Technician at the Halifax Shipyard, Jono is a vital part of quality assurance and helps regulate the accuracy of the entire shipbuilding process. A graduate of Acadia University and Nova Scotia Community College, Jono now lives and works in NS. Learn more about Jono’s exciting role at the shipyard in Nova Scotia.

6. Rebecca Nicolle

She never dreamed she’d be able to live and work in her home province, but a co-op opportunity at New Brunswick Southern Railway in Grade 12 changed that perspective. See how Rebecca has a career while still being home for the special, and the ordinary, family occasions.

7. Kyle Graves

Kyle moved out west after graduation to get experience, but knew he always wanted to return home to New Brunswick. When his daughter was born, moving home became a priority. Now, Kyle is working as an engineer at Irving Pulp and Paper in Saint John. See why Kyle says grandparents are better in person.

8. Andrew Healy

A graduate of Acadia University, Andrew Healy was recognized at one of the JDI Case Competitions during his time as a student. He was immediately hired on upon graduation, and now works and lives in Nova Scotia as a Supply Chain Specialist at the Halifax Shipyard. See how Andrew landed a career in the Maritimes.

9. Chris Clark

As a Department Superintendent at Irving Pulp and Paper, Chris says the sky is the limit when it comes to professional development with JDI. Not only is he pursuing his Bachelor of Applied Management at UNB, he is starting a family as well. See why Chris says you can have it all in the Maritimes.

10. Kathy Stull

Starting out as a nurse, Kathy decided to make a big career change in her thirties, going back to NBCC to become a Power Engineer. Kathy was afraid the career change would mean a move out West – but she landed a career with Irving Paper. See why Kathy is happy to be home in New Brunswick.
