Countdown to Skills Canada!

JDI is excited to be a sponsor of the 2016 Skills Canada Competition at the Moncton Coliseum.

Over 500 competitors from across Canada’s high schools will compete June 5 to 8 at the Moncton Coliseum. This free event is open to the public and spectators can take in 43 different contest areas.

Skilled trades are an integral part of our business. Between 2016 and 2019 we’re forecasted to hire almost 7,900 people across our operations. Sixty-five percent of these jobs are in New Brunswick, and many of them require skilled trades training.

Here at home in New Brunswick, we have 1,400 New Brunswick Community College and CCNB graduates working in our operations. Leading up to the Skills Canada Competition, we’re sharing the stories some of our own skilled trades talent within the company.

  Skills Canada
Jacques Veilleux is a Truck Technician at Universal Truck and Trailer in Moncton, New Brunswick. He studied at NBCC and completed a three-week work placement at Universal Truck and Trailer before being hired on full-time.

“I wouldn’t trade this career for anything. JDI is understanding and knows when we first start in our trade that we are still in the learning process. They give us every opportunity to better ourselves. We have a lot of professional people to learn from and they are happy to teach the newcomers.”

Come see Canada’s future skilled trade talent June 3-5. If you’re interested about growing your career with us, please stop by our JDI booth to connect with recruiters.
