Embracing Diversity: JDI Shines the Spotlight on Canadian Multiculturalism Day 2023

At J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI), belonging and inclusion are key components of the employee experience. They are rooted in JDI's values of integrity, people, and teamwork, ensuring that everyone is treated with fairness and respect.

Canadian Multiculturalism Day honors the many cultural communities that help build a strong and vibrant Canadian society. This year, JDI is taking this opportunity to celebrate the cultural diversity that enriches us collectively and reaffirm its commitment to equity, inclusion, and mutual respect every day.

Proud to Support Culture Fest Saint John

As JDI moves forward on its DEI journey, it continues to seek opportunities to strengthen communities across its operations and seek out opportunities to sponsor and get involved with events in the community that support diversity, equity and inclusion.

This year, JDI is proud to support Culture Fest Saint John in partnership with AREA 506. On August 5, Saint John, New Brunswick will transform into a kaleidoscope of diverse cultures from around the world. The festival will see fantastic food, captivating performances, and a range of music.

Celebrating New Canadians

This Canada Day, several JDI employees will be celebrating for the first time as permanent residents and citizens of Canada. Supporting employees through establishing this next step in building a new home is a priority when joining the JDI team and is celebrated throughout the year. By sharing photos and team celebrations, each employee and their families are welcomed across the JDI businesses.

"This Canada Day will be especially memorable for us," says Natasha, Talent Acquisition Specialist, and partner Levgenii Malisevych, Midland Linehaul Driver. "It has been a 4-year dream of ours to become Canadian Citizens. We feel honored to be Canadian and grateful for this opportunity."

JDI Finance Celebrates Diwali

Diwali is "festival of lights," an Indian event that celebrates the triumph of light over dark and good over evil. When it was time for Diwali's celebration, one of JDI Finance associates from India, passionate about sharing her culture, decided to celebrate the day with her team. They decorated and made a conference room as colorful as possible for the celebration. She brought in a traditional sweet called Gulab Jamum that she shared with the team.
