Empowering and Inspiring the Next Generation - J.D. Irving, Limited Presents Girls STEM Up

This weekend the Fredericton Convention Centre saw over 250 delegates attending the J. D. Irving, Limited Presents Girls STEM Up conference. The entrance was flooded with high school and university students who were interested in learning about the opportunities for females in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), and to hear from those in the workforce to gain knowledge of their future through other's experiences. Hear directly from the amazing women who attended, organized and inspired others at the conference:

The day began with a welcome and territorial acknowledgement followed by three key note speakers and four breakout sessions. The breakout sessions provided the opportunity for professionals to initiate an interactive discussion with attendees on topics that were aimed at exciting, educating, emerging and empowering young women in STEM. After the event concluded there was a networking event where employers and students could continue the valuable discussions.

JDI is committed to helping empower the younger generation of females to get excited about pursuing careers in STEM. Encouraging girls to consider non-traditional occupations is something we are passionate about as an organization. We wanted to thank our partners at Girls STEM Up for developing and hosting Atlantic Canada’s first conference dedicated to increasing engagement and excitement for women in STEM fields. The detail and execution that went into the conference was well acknowledged by the attendees and sponsors. We look forward to continuing our relationship to help make next year's event even more successful.
