Growing Jobs at J.D. Irving, Limited’s Ashland Sawmill

ASHLAND, MAINE

J.D. Irving, Limited’s Ashland Sawmill in Northern Maine has expanded its operations with the construction of a new dry kiln. The $1.7 million dollar project was completed earlier this year as the company continues to invest in its state-of-the-art $30+ million dollar sawmill which was completed in 2014. The new kiln will mean more production and more jobs for the Northern Maine community.

“The installation of our 3rd kiln will increase production by about 30 percent, as a result, we’ve added a third shift to meet the production demands, “said Ashland Mill Manager Rob Whipple. “ The new shift will increase total employment numbers to just over 100 at the mill.”
