Irving Partners with Students for Latest Brand Design

Sackville, NB:  Irving Consumer Products (ICP), part of J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI), is congratulating Christie Lawrence, a recent graduate from Mount Allison University (MTA) for her winning design of Irving Consumer Products’ latest tissue box.

Graphic design students from MTA competed for a chance to win $500 and have their work featured on millions of tissue boxes across Canada.

“We were very pleased with all the submissions from the students who demonstrated creativity and professionalism throughout the process,” says Robert Irving, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Irving Consumer Products.  “JDI companies have a long history of partnering with students.  The Majesta’s Trees of Knowledge Competition and the PALS program at Lou MacNarin School are two other student-focused initiatives we take part in.”

Ms. Lawrence’s winning-design features an image of a flower taken at Sackville Waterfowl Park in water wetlands.

Christie Lawrence’s (Mount Allison University graduate) artwork was the winning design for Irving Consumer Products’ new tissue box.

Students and professional designers submitted a total of 100 concepts, 29 of those created by MTA students, to be tested.  Out of the 29 designs, Ms. Lawrence’s came out on top.

The project, which was the first of its kind for ICP’s Private Label brand, was judged by a panel of 200 consumers.  The artwork now becomes one of several choices available for our retail customers.

As part of a photography course at the University, Ms. Lawrence was encouraged by her professor, Thaddeus Holownia, to put her talent to work and participate in this opportunity.

"I was absolutely thrilled and proud of myself to learn that I won.  Photography is a passion of mine that I will never give up,” said Ms. Lawrence.
