Irving Woodlands, LLC is proud to once again sponsor the 24th Can-Am Crown International Sled Dog 250-mile Race.  It is the longest and highest caliber race in the eastern United States and is a qualifier for the Alaskan Iditarod race. 

Mushers from throughout North America and around the world will be competing in three races: the 30-mile, 100-mile, and 250-mile race. 36 mushers are registered so far—15 of them for the 250-mile qualifying race. Included in these mushers is returning competitor 13-year-old Lara Renner, who qualified 4th in the 250-mile race in 2015 at age 12. 

Join us on Saturday, March 5th in downtown Fort Kent for the celebration of the 24th annual Can-Am Crown. Festivities will kick-off at 8AM, with a barbeque beginning at 10AM.

About the Can-Am Crown:

The Can-Am Crown organization was founded on October 16, 1992 as a non-profit corporation under the State of Maine. It was established to provide a mid-distance sled dog race to a growing community of mushers throughout the international region and to boost the area's image as a travel destination.

The Can-Am Crown 250 has rapidly gained popularity as the longest sled dog race in the eastern United States. The first-place winner of the Irving Woodlands Can-Am Crown 250 not only qualifies for the Alaskan Iditarod, but also wins a $29,000USD purse.  Irving Woodlands hosts a large refreshment tent on the main street - complete with hot chocolate and BBQ – that is free to all attending the race.
