J.D. Irving, Limited Receives the United Way Cornerstone Award
Every year employees from J.D. Irving employees go out of their way to raise funds to support numerous charitable organizations. United Way is one of those organizations and over the course of the 2016 campaign, J.D. Irving, Limited Saint John contributed over $86,000, going towards programs and organizations serving Saint John, Kings & Charlotte County. In addition, the Moncton-based companies contributed $118,318 to the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick.
Saint John
On March 22, United Way Saint John, Kings & Charlotte recognized J.D. Irving as their Cornerstone Sponsor, given to a workplace that has made a substantial contribution to the United Way over the past 15 years.

The total contributions from JDI for 2016 is a combination of a corporate donation as well as employee contributions. The following JDI Saint John companies were a part of the fundraising efforts for the 2016 campaign:

In addition to the Cornerstone Award, JDI was recognized as one of the Top Five Employee Giving workplaces and one of the Top Five Corporate Support workplaces. Funds given to the United Way go to support programs and organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Sistema, SJ Learning Exchange, and the Saint John Boys and Girls Club.
Tracy Kilpatrick of Irving Paper is one of the amazing employees who helps raise funds for the United Way. This year she was nominated for the Employee Campaign Coordinator Workplace Hero Award. Those nominated for this award use their creativity, enthusiasm, and leadership to run outstanding campaigns in their workplace.

Alexya Heelis, Resource Development Manager of United Way Saint John, Kings & Charlotte was at the event to hand out the awards and recognition. "We are incredibly grateful to every donor, big and small, from J.D. Irving companies that support the United Way." says Alexya, "Every donation positively impacts the lives of those most in need, allowing women to leave an abusive partner, improving childhood literacy, and moving people out of poverty, just to name a few. None of this would be possible without community partners like J.D. Irving."
Moncton
J.D. Irving Moncton-based companies are also heavily involved in raising funds for the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick.
At the March 16 campaign closing ceremony, the company and its' employees were recognized as one of the top corporate sector donors in 2016 finishing in the third spot, up from fourth the previous year.
They also passed the $1,000,000 mark in total donations to the United Way since joining the effort in 2002. The 2016 campaign surpassed $118,000 beating last year's total by nearly $18,000

“The United Way helps provide our community with the programs and services that improve the quality of life for our most vulnerable citizens. There is no doubt in my mind that generosity, action and compassion can change lives,” said Kirk Muise, 2016 campaign chair for the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick.
In 2016, donor contributions to United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick helped fund 28 programs run by 26 agencies.
In total, J.D. Irving Companies in New Brunswick contributed over $204,000 to United Way efforts in 2016.
