JDI Finance Volunteers for Feed Nova Scotia

Halifax-based members of the J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI) Finance group recently came together to aid Feed Nova Scotia.

Feed Nova Scotia comprises 147 food banks, shelters, and other meal programs, supporting over 44,000 Nova Scotians each year. Karen Theriault, Director of Development and Communications for Feed NS said volunteers are vital to this nonprofit.

“There is no way that Feed Nova Scotia could operate without the support of our volunteer network,” Theriault said. “Having the group here from JDI is making a huge difference because each can and each box of food is going to those that need it.”

Kate Horne, Leader of Financial Reporting & Accounting for JDI Finance at Irving Shipbuilding said she wanted the team to come together to do something positive for their community.

“We felt it was really important that it not just be something for us to go out and have fun, but we wanted to make sure that we were doing something within our community and giving back,” she said. Horne hopes this volunteer day will be the beginning of an ongoing relationship with Feed NS. “We hope to do this on an annual basis.”
