Spryfield, NS:  Several JDI employees from the Truro Sawmill volunteered their time and skills to help build a house for a Spryfield family of four.  The JDI sawmill also donated most of the lumber for the Habitat for Humanity project.
  

"We're really proud to be part of this worthy effort to help those in need in our community," said Christian Gilbert, Spruce Sales Manager, JDI Sawmills Division. "This has been a joint collaboration with JDI and the Sustainability Forestry Initiative (SFI) - a world leader in forest certification."
 
SFI spokesman Danny Karch said this is the fourth build this year for Habitat for Humanity in Canada and the U.S.

"They understand the importance of building sustainably, and using sustainably-certified building material is one way Habitat for Humanity can show their environment stewardship," Karch said.

While JDI's Sawmill Division donated the lumber for the project, Irving Tissue donated a six-month supply of bathroom tissue to the family.
The family is expected to move into their new home later this summer.
