JDI Welcomes 82 Students for Winter Term

The J.D. Irving Group of Companies (JDI) is pleased to welcome 82 students across our operations. This term students are joining us from twelve institutions:

• Dalhousie University
• Mount Saint Vincent University
• Nova Scotia Community College
• Université  de Moncton
• University of New Brunswick Saint John
• University of New Brunswick Fredericton
• University of Waterloo
• New Brunswick Community College
• Memorial University of Newfoundland
• Marine Institute
• Eastern College
• College of the North Atlantic

Christina Brimingham from Renous, Newfoundland and Labrador is in her final year of mechanical engineering studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN).  She is one of 22 MUN students with JDI this term. “This is my fourth co-op work term and my first with JDI,” said Christina. Over 40% of the students joining us this term are studying an engineering discipline, like Christina. So far, Christina says she appreciates the freedom extended to co-op students. “You really get the opportunity to flourish. When you need it, everyone is more than willing to help,” Christina says.

Kyle Foster, studying Industrial Controls Technology at New Brunswick Community College, is working at Lake Utopia Paper. This is his second co-op work term with JDI; last summer he was part of the team at Irving Pulp and Paper. “I came back for another co-op term with JDI because of the hands-on experience and I enjoy the people I get to work with,” said Kyle, of Barnesville, New Brunswick. “I think JDI stands out because you can build a career here.”

In 2017 we forecast welcoming 650 students across our operations. Looking for a summer work opportunity? Check out Four Ways to Find Your Summer Job, connect with a recruiter at an upcoming career fair, sign up for Job Alerts, and view current student and new graduate opportunities.
