Kent Homes Awarded Construction Camp in Manitoba - Largest Contract in Kent Homes History

Bouctouche, NB – Kent Homes, Atlantic Canada’s leading provider of modular homes and commercial modular space solutions is pleased to announce that they have signed an agreement with Outland Camps to build 100 dorm rooms and the employee entertainment complexes for the Manitoba Hydro Bipole III Converter Station project site near Gillam, Manitoba.

Kent Homes will play an integral role in the overall construction by delivering a series of complexes that total approximately 115,000 square feet - equivalent to 2 football fields. This commercial project will feature employee amenities such as games rooms and a dining facility with a capacity of serving 380 employees at a time. Kent Homes will also be building various commercial infrastructures such as the arctic corridors that will connect the buildings, satellite field offices, washroom facilities, and custom built security entrance buildings.

“We believe that this project will provide an opportunity for prospective clients from across Canada and USA to be exposed to the world class manufacturing practices at Kent Homes which has made us a leader in the Atlantic region as the largest commercial and residential builder.” says Ray Girouard, Director of Commercial Sales at Kent Homes. “This project will provide Kent Homes exposure onto the National stage, growing awareness of the skill and capability of our team as we expand our customer base into new markets.”

Since 1958 Kent Homes has built a reputation on working with local suppliers. For this commercial project they partnered with over 20 New Brunswick businesses to secure construction materials ranging from doors to windows, to working with commercial industry experts on the designing and engineering of the complex.

“This contract is the largest in our history and exciting news for Kent Homes and all of our 225 employees” said David Saucy,  General Manager of Kent Homes, “Not only will our facility be kept working at capacity to meet the demands of this project but we’re looking forward to keeping our Maritime based suppliers busy with providing the materials we need to complete this project”  Additionally, Mr. Saucy noted that in order to meet the demands of this new project Kent Homes is now actively looking to hire an additional 30 new employees to join the manufacturing team.  Hiring has begun and further information may be accessed via www.jdirving.com/careers

The units produced by Kent Homes will journey over 4300 kms from Bouctouche New Brunswick to Northern Manitoba. The first units are expected to start shipping across Canada this summer.
