Majesta Helps Grow Green Space in Fredericton

The Fredericton Direct Charge Co-op was awarded a community greening event and a BBQ celebration for winning the 2013 MAJESTA Co-op “Growing Together” Contest.

Officials from MAJESTA, Co-op, and Tree Canada kicked off the celebration this month with a ceremonial tree planting at the Co-op store located in Fredericton.

As part of the greening initiative, 200 bare root trees were provided to the community on behalf of MAJESTA for planting near the Marysville Heritage Centre, adjacent to the Nashwaak River.  The land, formerly a cow pasture, had been purchased by the City of Fredericton with the goal of protecting the river bank.  On October 5, Irving Tissue and Co-op employees joined members of the community to plant the trees, which will now help restore the future green area.

A free BBQ celebration was held the same day at the Co-op to thank customers who had helped the store win the contest by purchasing MAJESTA products.
