Making an Impact: Hear from JDI's Transportation Division Summer Students
This summer, JDI's Transportation and Logistics Division welcomed 13 students across 7 businesses as part of its Careers in Motion Program. These students led and supported dozens of projects spanning fleet management, naval architecture and vessel maintenance, data visualization, process mapping, sales, and marketing.
"I continue to be amazed at the degree of learning our students are exposed to during their terms, and the positive impacts they have on our businesses," remarks Wayne Power, Group Vice President of Transportation and Logistics. "From working on drydockings to helping digitize our operations, we are providing an opportunity for them to apply their academics while delivering value in a meaningful way. Our Careers in Motion Program continues to improve every year."
In addition to working on high-impact projects, students were able to participate in a number of tours and excursions, including: a harbour ride and tour of the Atlantic Osprey courtesy of Atlantic Towing; a demonstration hosted by RST's Emergency Response Services team; and, a visit to one of JDI's tree nurseries. They attended various training workshops throughout their work terms, and competed in a divisional student selfie contest, headed by Power.
