Atlantic Towing (ATL) established this scholarship not only to promote post-secondary education and marine careers, but also to strengthen their commitment as an employer of choice on campus at the Marine Institute.
Two $1,000 scholarships are given each year: a nautical science student in the fall and a marine engineering student in the winter. In addition to solid academic standing, eligible candidates must have previously completed a successful work term with ATL.
ATL offers cadets a meaningful marine work experience that includes mentorship and coaching from the industry's most talented marine professionals. Additionally, students have an opportunity to work in a diverse fleet of world-class vessels and state-of-the-art technology while receiving paid cadetship and the opportunity to gain full-time, permanent employment upon graduation.
In the last three years, 30 cadets from the Marine Institute have secured full-time jobs with Atlantic Towing. In the next three years, Atlantic Towing expects to hire an additional 60 cadets.
