Steve Taylor, from Fredericton South, is an Installed Sales associate. His job consists of reaching out and making contact with potential customers, discussing their upcoming projects and meeting with them on site to give them a proposal for their project. Working in Installed Sales for the past 12 years, Steve was previously an Operations Manager and Dispatcher before making the move to his current role.
Personally, seeing the final project through to completion and the happiness that he sees on the faces of his customers keeps Steve fulfilled. He enjoys the variety in his work saying, “every day is different and poses a new challenge”.
Making sure his customer is taken care of is Steve’s number one priority. Even with the recent pandemic and lockdowns, that has not changed. He explains, “right after the COVID-19 lockdown, we were able to install a lot of flooring for a customer who was under a very tight time crunch. We were able to have the project done in time to meet her needs”.
Also based out of Fredericton, Jared Lindsay is an outside sales person in the KENT Installation Services Department with 11 years of service under his belt. He meets with homeowners to discuss their renovation needs and works with contractors to make sure that their projects are done properly.
Jared started his career with KENT in the flooring department while finishing his BBA at UNB. Not long after graduation, a position was posted for the Installation Sales team and he has been there ever since.
A typical day consists of home visits, where he takes measurements of what the customer wants renovated, such as windows, doors, roofs, siding, decks, etc. While on site, he makes recommendations of ways to address the renovation or gives advice on things that they may have overlooked. Afterwards, Jared puts together a project price for them which includes all materials and labour involved to complete the project. Sometimes, he may even need to speak with City Inspectors or Fire Marshalls to ensure everything that is being done is up to current building codes.
Meeting new people and dealing with different projects daily keeps Jared engaged. He also enjoys problem solving; when he discovered that one of his largest customers was not getting service from a particular vendor in a timely fashion, Jared was able to source a local vendor and secure the materials needed to finish the project.
When asked what he enjoys most about his job Jared replies, “Seeing how happy customers are with their completed project. Making lasting relationships with customers that keep them coming back to KENT for all of their renovations.”
