Meet Julia MacPherson!
J.D Irving, Limited takes pride in investing in the project engineers of tomorrow. Julia MacPherson, a project engineering student, is turning theory into action by getting hands-on working experience at Irving Pulp & Paper.
“With all the large projects underway, I have been able to expand my understanding of many different areas of engineering and the business as a whole, making my experiences here a once in a lifetime opportunity” says MacPherson.
MacPherson is in her final year of mechanical engineering at the University of New Brunswick and is currently on her third work term with the division. Throughout Julia's past work terms at Irving Paper and Irving Forest Services, she has gained interpersonal skills and experience with different software and engineering drawings. As a project engineering student, Julia brings a fresh perspective to projects. In return, she has benefited from attainable challenges in a communicative environment.
"Being able to see tangible change on the projects I am working on is rewarding and fulfilling, but it's also an invaluable experience. You would not get this experience anywhere else," says MacPherson.
The Pulp & Paper Division is currently hiring for the fall work term. You can find our open positions here.
