Midland Announces Construction of New Transportation Facility at Yarmouth International Airport

Dieppe, NB – Midland Transport is pleased to announce a major investment at the Yarmouth International Airport with the construction of a new transportation logistics facility. The new terminal will provide an opportunity for Midland to increase its service within the Maritimes and will have a significant impact in the region.

Having operated in the Yarmouth region for 35 years, Midland understands the importance of the facility. “We are confident that this investment will help support export capabilities, including fish and other seafood, in southwest Nova Scotia,” says Robert K. Irving, President, Midland Transport. “The construction of this modern transportation logistics terminal further demonstrates our transportation commitment to the region.”

“It is our new board’s goal to transform the Yarmouth airport into a regional economic and logistics hub,” says Irene d’Entremont, Chair, Yarmouth International Airport Corporation. “This partnership with Midland Transport will enable exporters to use Yarmouth International Airport for new export and import opportunities. It is a very exciting development.”

Construction of the 4,320 square foot facility will begin this summer and will include an 11 door cross dock, serving both inbound and outbound shipments. Local contractors and resources will be used during construction, with completion expected to take place in fall 2016.
