Minto Mines Become Mountain Biker's Paradise

For the second year in a row, J.D. Irving, Limited's Woodlands Division was the platinum sponsor of the Coal Miner's Lung Mountain Bike Race in Minto, NB. The event, which brings in bikers from all across the Atlantic provinces had another great turn out and beautiful weather. The 137 participants traveled from all over New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. and varied in age from 7 to 70.

This year, JDI was proud to provide five mountain bikes to youth who applied through a written essay. This was done in tandem with Mountain Bike Minto to try and increase local interest and involved in the sport.

"JDI is pleased again this year to be the Platinum sponsor at the Coal Miner's Lung Mountain Bike Race.," said Robert, Fawcett, Director of Corporate Relations with the Woodlands Division. "This is a great outdoor family event in a growing sport. This year participants 7 to 70 came  from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI."

Since becoming involved in the race last year, JDI has helped in improving trail conditions and signage, throughout the entire trail system, in addition to providing prizes and volunteers for the event.

"I think it's the best mountain bike race in New Brunswick, I think it's the best mountain bike race in the Maritimes!" says race organizer Sean Morrisey. "The trails are absolutely fantastic and we've had a great turn out this year".
