Nancy St-Laurent Honoured with a Women Who Inspire Award

Montreal, Quebec – Yesterday, alongside other women in the transportation industry, Nancy St-Laurent received a Women Who Inspire Award from the Trucking Human Resource Sector Council Atlantic. She was one of three women acknowledged at this year’s 2020 Advancing Women in Trucking Conference. Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the conference was held virtually this year.

Nancy St-Laurent received a Women Who Inspire Award from the Trucking Human Resource Sector Council Atlantic on November 4, 2020.

The Women Who Inspire Awards celebrate women who inspire those around her, women who cheer on and help others in the workplace, women who deserve to be recognized for the things she does daily.

“Anyone who has ever met Nancy knows the passion, energy and enthusiasm she brings to the transportation industry,” said Robert K. Irving, President of Midland. “She inspires her colleagues every day and reminds them how critical our industry is for our customers. Now, more than ever, it’s important to celebrate leaders like Nancy in the trucking industry.”

St-Laurent is Regional Sales Manager, Quebec for Midland. She joined Midland in 2012 as an Account Manager and has demonstrated her leadership skills and ability to deliver for customers.

“I’ve been very fortunate to have many mentors at Midland who have helped me grow. All I have to do is ask and others step in to help. Any time I’ve been interested in learning more, I’ve been given the team’s full support,” said St-Laurent. “The training I’ve received is second to none. I was thrilled to join other members of our organization in our Future Leaders Career Development Program. It showed how much Midland believes in me.”

When the position of Regional Sales Manager in Quebec became available in 2015, St-Laurent was immediately interested because of her strong passion for leading and coaching others. In this role, she has focused on building a strong team of Account Managers that provides best-in-class service to their customers. She enjoys joining her team members on the road when they travel throughout their territories, meeting existing customers and connecting with new ones. “Any success I’ve had is a due to my team. They are the best,” said St-Laurent.

“Everyone on the Midland team is proud of Nancy and her contributions. I was recently on a call with Nancy and her team, and each person shared how Nancy has helped them stay motivated and how she has helped each one of them develop their own career,” said Mr. Irving. “I look forward to watching Nancy’s continued growth in our organization and want to congratulate her on this most-deserved recognition.”

St-Laurent believes diversity in the industry helps make it stronger. She said, “ensuring women are represented allows a better mix of experiences, personalities and knowledge. And that can only make the transportation sector stronger!”

She encourages women entering the trucking industry to always be themselves. Although they may feel the need to emulate their male peers, she encourages every person to bring their own personality to the job. “Everyone has their own strengths that will contribute to the success of the team,” said St-Laurent.
