NBSR Helps Celebrate the Sussex Train Station’s 100th Anniversary

New Brunswick Southern Railway helped celebrate 100 years of rail service at the Sussex Train Station this past Canada Day.  An NBSR passenger train took over 200 passengers on a two-hour trip to Moosehorn, NB and back as part of the celebration.

Less than three hours after the plans were finalized, the 215 tickets for the train ride were sold out—a clear indication that Sussex citizens wanted the chance to celebrate how vital the railway was for the town.

Over the past four years, NBSR has grown its business and created 90 new jobs in the region.  The company has expanded its fleet of locomotives to move goods to and from New Brunswick and the US.

NBSR is proud to be part of the JDI team, and the JDI team is proud to be part of Sussex.

The Canada Day celebration in Sussex was also enjoyed by the 600 JDI Sussex employees - and their families - who live and work in this great community.
JDI has been a major employer in the Sussex area for 40 years at our sawmill, woodlands, tree nursery operations, chip plant, Kent Building Supplies, and more recently, Fleetway Facility Services.
