New scholarships for Transportation & Logistics co-op students

J.D Irving, Limited's Transportation & Logistics Division will offer a $1,000 scholarship to the top three Careers in Motion students. University students who join one of the division's businesses for a co-op work term will be eligible for the scholarship that will be applied to their upcoming semester of studies.

“We understand today, more than ever, students are feeling the pressure of the financial burdens associated with post-secondary education," said Kristin Henderson, Human Resource Director with the Transportation and Logistics Division. "We’re excited to provide this new scholarship on top of their work term wages to help ease that burden during the school year.”

Rachel Farwell, a past Careers in Motion student applauded the new scholarship and noted that it will help improve students' focus on their studies.

"I had financial aid throughout university, but still had a part-time job on top of full-time studies and being a student athlete. In my senior year, I had saved enough to not work during the school year and the change really showed in my studies. I was able to commit more time to school and didn’t have to wonder if I could cover my financial needs for the month. Financial aid is critical to enabling students to commit their time and energy to their studies, the new Careers in Motion scholarship will allow students to achieve their full potential while in school."
