After more than 1 million person hours of work at the $350 million Halifax Shipyard modernization, the count-down is on for production of the 1st Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) and we’re hiring! We're looking for experienced welders, pipefitters, ironworkers and marine fabricators and we have 70 openings for professionals – supply chain, engineering, IT and finance.
As Canada's Combatant Shipbuilder, we're getting ready for over 25 years of interesting challenging and steady work into the future.
Across Canada, the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS) commitment to date has created more than 8,600 fulltime equivalent (FTE) positions across Canada (direct and indirect) and generated $552M worth of employment income in the country. It has also generated more than $412M worth of consumer spending and approximately $182M worth of taxes for federal, provincial and local governments.
Irving Shipbuilding has committed more than $722M in Canada to date in contracts, procurement, goods and services related to the NSPS. Meantime, over 1,800 Canadian companies have registered with Irving Shipbuilding, each of whom is able to receive news of the program and access to opportunities to participate in supplying this generational project.
And we have great partners – in Nova Scotia and across the country - building the skills of our current and future shipbuilders and the lasting legacy of a Marine Centre of Excellence.
