Record-Breaking Purchases from NB Private Wood Producers and Woodlot Owners

SAINT JOHN, N.B: J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI) Woodlands Division has set an all-time record for wood purchases from private woodlot owners, producers, and marketing boards in NB.

JDI purchased a record-breaking 510,000 tonnes of wood between April 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016 – beating the previous record of 492,000 tonnes (2014-2015 operating year).

The new record is the result of wood purchases from seven marketing boards across the province, representing 720 wood producers and private woodlot owners.

Recent JDI mill investments are a big part of the growth in wood purchases from private producers in New Brunswick.

“Private woodlot owners and producers are vital to sustaining our mills and the thousands of jobs across our NB forest products operations,” said Jason Limongelli, Vice President of Woodlands.  "As we finish the 2015-2016 operating year we celebrate a new milestone in our long history of buying wood from NB woodlot owners and producers.  We value the partnership and appreciate their support.”
