RST Sunbury Awards Three Scholarships

RST Sunbury is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2016 RST Sunbury Education Scholarships. The RST Sunbury scholarship committee selected three employees’ children to receive the $1000 scholarships based on community and school involvement, academic effort, testimonials, financial need, as well as achievements and awards.

This year's recipients are Miranda Beaton, daughter of Robert Beaton, RST Company Driver as well as, Luke Watson, son of John Watson, Transport Solutions Driver, and Samantha Nutter, daughter of Stephen Nutter, Owner Operator.

Recipients: 

Miranda Beaton, a 2016 graduate of Memorial High School in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, is attending St. Francis Xavier University to pursue a Bachelor of Nursing degree.

Luke Watson, a 2016 graduate of Woodstock High School, is attending University of New Brunswick Saint John enrolled in the Bio-Psych double major program.

Samantha Nutter, a 2016 graduate of Simonds High School in Saint John, New Brunswick, is attending University of New Brunswick Fredericton to pursue a career in the medical field in their sciences program.

“Congratulations to our 2016 scholarship recipients,” said Gail Lebel, Director of Human resources for J.D. Irving, Limited Transportation division. “This is a great group of young students dedicated to their education. Best of luck with your continued studies.”

“I feel very fortunate to receive the award,” said recipient Luke Watson. “I am grateful for the recognition and for the help to pay for my studies.”

Other J.D. Irving, Limited companies awarded scholarships to employees’ children including the Pulp and Paper division and the Halifax Shipyard.
