Shipyard Workers Donate Children´s Books

Aboriginal children in the Halifax area have access to a large new selection of books, thanks to CAW Local 1 at Halifax Shipyard.

During the one-week book drive which was organized by David Ladouceur of CAW Local 1, employees were asked to bring in gently used children's books.  The donated books were collected at drop-off points in the shipyard's reception area and lunch rooms.  Over 400 books were collected.

The donated books were then delivered to the Mi'kmaq Native Friendship Centre for its “Books for L.I.F.E.” (Learning is for Everyone) program.
