Supporting the First New Brunswick Women in Business Conference

J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI) is proud to be a sponsor of the first ever New Brunswick Women in Business Conference. The event was held on November 3rd in Fredericton, NB and was organized by two University of New Brunswick students.

Morgan Meade and Molly Pittman are the co-chairs of the conference decided to organize the event as they wanted to find a platform of inspiration where they could empower females to pursue their passions in the world of business.

"Together, Morgan and I, saw a need for an inclusive platform for like-minded individuals which fosters encouragement, empowerment, and motivation. Currently, there is not a similar event to the New Brunswick Women in Business Conference in the entirety of the province. We hope that the New Brunswick Women in Business Conference is where the growth of inclusive platforms stem - although we would like to think that there is only one area of New Brunswick which has a need of inclusive platform, this is not the case." says Molly. "We hope this conference provides the tools for women in New Brunswick and catalyzes these women to start/continue their careers whether it be an academic career or job career with the ability to hold a growth-mindset and overcome obstacles." she adds.

"Our idea to host a conference happened expeditiously. When we began contacting sponsors, we were in the novel stages of our initiative. There was a lot of uncertainty involving our event - as there is with many new ideas - so to obtain a sponsorship from any company was a monumental honour. Receiving a donation meant that that company realized our potential and saw value in our mission. Having a company such as JDI as a sponsor, in specific, is markedly impactful. It means so much that such a recognized company, with local-roots, possesses values that align with our own. It demonstrates that JDI takes a proactive approach to supporting community initiatives - and for that, we could not be more grateful. " says Morgan.

Our team was onsite for the day, networking with the attendees and learning from the women. JDI would like to thank these two amazing females for hosting this event and all the volunteers who made it possible!
