Thank You Summer Students

Best wishes to all co-op and summer students as you return to school.

J.D. Irving, Limited believes in laying the foundation for a strong well-educated workforce.  We were pleased to work with 434 students across our divisions this summer.  As part of JDI’s ongoing commitment to the community and the future growth of our workforce, we are committed to realizing youth potential through partnerships with leading colleges and universities in our region.

Building a Skilled Workforce
• J.D. Irving, Limited will hire 6500 people in the next three years; 70 percent of these workers will come from the trades.
• We collaborate with local universities in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia with our Direct Exchange case competition.
• We are working with local university and community college partners to recruit students in all aspects of our operations including finance, accounting, engineering, information technology, transportation logistics, and supply chain management.
• Based on JDI’s workforce needs and working with the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) - one of our partners, we have created a winning combination that builds skills and opportunity for New Brunswick’s future workforce through student co-op work terms.  We provide students with a bonus should we offer them a full-time position during their last co-op term with us.
• We have worked with local community colleges to create new courses to support workforce needs (example: Process Control Technology).
